the retreat is almost here!
I'm into retreat mode now, having a hard time concentrating on my homework from school, sermon prep, etc. So much time, prep, energy, effort goes on for months, and then it's compressed into one quick weekend. I'm counting on God to make it worthwhile, to draw the people who come deeper into His presence and to make His presence known in our fellowship, growing our faith in Him, our love for one another, and our hope for whatever is going on in our lives. I have big hopes and prayers for this weekend.
One of the things Eileen noticed as she was working on small groups was that there are a lot of college and career aged young people coming. They are excited to see and hear Erik again, and I am excited at the opportunity. This could be a weekend of polarization, division, and us (old or older folk) versus them (whippersnappers). But the Spirit is going to be there in our midst, and I think there is a huge opportunity for us to grow together as a church family, to bridge generational gaps, and to get to know people we wouldn't ordinarily see or talk to. If you're coming to the retreat, I hope you will sit at meals and meetings with people you don't know and talk to them and really listen and care and get to know them and make new friends. Don't be clique-y! And if you're not coming, pray for us.

It's 2pm and I am looking forward to going to a retreat... man I need a good couple of days away...
Hopefully I will get recharged for this coming year...
I'm sad that they force us to go to bed so early... but actually, at my age, it is a good thing...
See you guys bright eyed and bushy tailed at 7am tomorrow with me and Connie...(usually I'm sleeping)
Smell the coffee!

Yesterday after the retreat I went to bed at 5:30 and didn't get up until 6pm!
It's now 1pm Monday and I am ready to take a nap... so much went on... it was one of the best CBC retreats ever! It was great to meet so many young people(ages 25 and younger) and witness my first documented healing (I wrote about it at my Cafe Fuego site)... watch some old guys actually beat the young guys in paintball(fun to watch on the side lines)and do the zip line...
See Eric for the first time in years... dance like one of the little kids... do a mini Cafe Fuego in the morning, sleeping to the sounds of Connie on the piano... great food (Santa Maria style tri tip was really good) and great fellowship(playing the "name game" with 20+ participants ages 4 to 60's was great to see...watching falling stars early in the morning... finally leaving satisfied and looking forward to go back next year... it truly was a wonderful time... I made some new friends and families... scared away a few also(smile)... I hope to see all of you again next year...
Thanks Natalie and everyone involved putting it together so that I can have a great time with my CBC family members.
I love you all!
Fuego!!!!
